I am Chamika J. Pathirana and I am standing as a candidate from United National Party (UNP) for the Colombo Municipal Council Election, because I believe in the power of our community, and I want to ensure that every voice is heard.
As I have been a resident of our wonderful neighbourhood, I understand the unique needs and aspirations of our affluent area. Together we can shape the future we all deserve.
As a proud Alumnus of Bishop’s College, Colombo, my alma mater instilled in me the values of leadership, integrity, and service, as was our motto, not for oneself, but for all, principles that guide my vision for our community.
I earned my BSc (Hons) in Microbiology/ Biotechnology from Queen Mary University of London, and my MSc in Medical Microbiology from London School of Hygeine and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), University of London.
I was elected to the Colombo Municipal Council from Borella Electorate in 2018 and served as a Member until 2023. During my tenure as a council Member, I had the privilege of serving as the Chairperson of Health & Sanitation Standing Committee where I worked to improve community wellbeing. I later took on the role of Chairperson of Preschool & Vocational Training Standing Committee focusing on early education and skills development.
Together we can make a difference in Cinnamon Gardens, building a stronger future for it’s residents, with transparency and accountability, focusing on our priorities. Your Vote is more than just a selection on a ballet, it’s a voice shaping the future of our neighbourhood.
